Seattle's building department, SDCI, is at it again, joining forces with developers to remove cooling, carbon-sequestering shade in the name of profit. Their next target is Astra, a 100-year-old Western red cedar at 3003 NE 88th St in Wedgwood.
An independent architect has confirmed that the same number and size of homes can be built without removing Astra, but Seattle's building department, SDCI, approved the version of the plan giving Legacy Capital maximum profits instead.
Astra's climate-saving infrastructure is too great to take this removal lying down. Join us this Saturday at 2 p.m. to give thanks to Astra.
