Mount Baker is at risk of losing two huge Port Orford cedars unnecessarily. These trees grow at the edge of a lot being developed. We’ll be gathering at these trees to show support for nature in cities and common-sense solutions to protect it.
The City has approved removing two huge, healthy Port Orford cedars anchoring a steep slope for a development project. The trees are being removed for convenience — one is even on a property boundary where nothing is allowed to be built.
Port Orford cedars are resilient trees valued for their exceptional ability to fight pollution and filter stormwater. Even so, the City required a "landslide covenant" for this project, absolving them of all responsibility if the slope fails.
Join us in asking the City to protect Mount Baker from deforestation when new housing is built. We can grow with our trees!
