What is The Wedgwood Encircling Forest?

Tree Action Seattle is fighting to save the Wedgwood Encircling Forest, a linear grove of 46 big trees, clustered on the periphery of a cleared lot. Despite their value in this creek watershed, and convenient location on the lot’s periphery, SDCI will likely approve their removal.

The roots and branches of these majestic firs, cedars and maples have formed a resilient grove which supports and protects each tree. Breaking up the grove by cutting down individual members will launch a cycle of decline. There is no reason to remove trees on the very edge of a lot where they provide cooling and a privacy buffer between neighbors.
