What is the Longfellow Creek Forest?

Longfellow creek forest is a creek-edge forest with over 50 exceptional trees on a property that will soon be approved for development. The property is 30 feet away from Longfellow Creek -- and is in an Environmentally Critical Area. Here are some forest highlights:

  • 🌲 53 western red cedars and many other native trees
  • 🌊 Forest’s roots filter stormwater to Longfellow Creek
  • 🐟 Creek is one of the only two remaining salmon-bearing creeks in SEA

If that’s not bad enough, down the street taxpayers are paying millions of dollars to restore habitat by planting a new forest. Why bulldoze a forest just to replant it a few feet away?

Is There Another Solution?

Yes! An AIA certified architect evaluated this lot and showed that simple design changes could keep the same amount of housing and save the most mature, critical trees.
